ON-SITE POSITION
Summary:Reporting to the Director, Port Department, the Deputy Port Director is a member of the senior management team of the Port Department and is responsible for oversight of the Department’s facilities, business services, commercial development, planning, and capital program delivery.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree is required; graduate degree is preferred.
Experience Requirements: Minimum of 20 years of progressively responsible experience at an executive level capacity, preferably working for an organization comparable to the size and complexity of the operation in the Port of NY & NJ, with at least 10 years in the port and maritime transportation arena. The ideal candidate will present the following profile:
At least 15 years of progressively responsible operations, planning, project management, customer service, performance management, property maintenance, and infrastructure management experience in a complex transportation environment.
Extensive knowledge of the global supply chain and the port and maritime transportation system.
Demonstrated senior level experience in managing, leading, mentoring and developing a large, diverse staff with a proven record of effective team building and providing successful outcomes.
Demonstrated experience in complex negotiations and conflict resolution supported by strong transactional, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Superior interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with demonstrated experience preparing and delivering presentation materials to a broad executive and senior staff and both internal and external stakeholders.
Compensation & Benefits: Base salary range $250-270K annually (depending on experience), plus excellent benefits.
Other:
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential) within 60 days of assuming the position.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without restrictions.
