Job Title: Staff Engineer, Civil/Structural Engineer Reporting: Directly to Principal Engineers of Paul Bridges & Associates, LLC Location/Base: First 12 Months: Freeport, The Bahamas; Report to: Mobile, Alabama, United States of America; Following 12 Months, relocate permanently to Mobile, Alabama, USA
Job Purpose: Provide civil/structural engineering support for equipment procurement and equipment maintenance engineering, and facility interface projects and general engineering for port-related projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of this position are:
- Provide design/consulting engineering for various crane procurement, crane maintenance engineering, and crane interface projects, including design, design review, construction inspections, technical report writing, cost/time estimating, and the development of executable construction documents. - Liaise and consult with principals/engineering staff. - Manage certain engineering projects - Monitor and inspect work being performed by other entities.
Requirements:
- A minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in civil/structural engineering, with Masters preferred but not required. Also preferred but not required to have two (2) years of experience in engineering and development of construction documents.
- Ultimately person would be expected to become a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Alabama or Florida with the ability to become licensed in additional states/territories and desirous to become licensed as a Structural Engineer by passing the SE I and SE II exams.
- Organizational and leadership skills – including the initiative to be able to work alone or on a team coupled with the ability to appropriately prioritize time/projects.
- Demonstrated experience in project and contract management, including the preparation of specifications and contract documents, administration and interpretation thereof, and in the resolution of contractual issues.
- Able to access and review works/conditions at all heights/locations on equipment such as a ship-to-shore container crane.
- Fluent in written and verbal, expert-level English as it pertains to the engineering field.
- Competency in the use of the latest Microsoft Office products, Autodesk, AutoCAD, Revit, FEA, RISA 3D, and other similar software.
