Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position will operate and maintain all material handling systems and associated support equipment at the Bulk Terminal facility; while providing support to the Bulk Terminal Group Supervisor and Bulk Terminal Operations Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs all required maintenance tasks on the crane including replacing hold and close ropes, replacing grab and repairs to grabs as deemed necessary (30 yd.), etc., and must be competent in operating crane and related equipment
Operates radial ship loader and performs required maintenance tasks on radial ship loader
Operates all material handling equipment associated with loading and unloading cargo
Performs all required maintenance necessary to maintain terminal operations
Determines operational malfunctions, detecting potential malfunctions, and initiates and performs preventative maintenance. Determines mal-functions and repairs conveyor transmissions, fluid couplings and gear boxes
Performs arc and MIG welding tasks and is capable of selecting proper welding supplies to perform required tasks
Performs maintenance on conveyor systems including alignment and training to ensure proper tracking and tension adjustment
Maintains tension and alignment of belt cleaning equipment to ensure proper operation
Performs all required maintenance of support equipment including forklifts, backhoes, vehicles, etc.
Adjusts and calibrates vibratory feeders
Fills out and completes work orders
Completes all training and safety assignments in a timely manner
Performs some electrical work including diagnosing electrical components
Provides assistance to other employees to achieve maximum departmental efficiency
Provides training, direction, and support to lower grade level employees
Adheres to PCCA policy and maintains good employee relations
Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations
Drives vehicle as necessary to complete assigned duties and works required hours/shifts necessary to fulfill facility objectives
Familiarizes self of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to successfully accomplish BMD operations goals and complete 701 crane training within one year of start date
Performs related duties as assigned
CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
Tier 2 status designation
CANDIDATE PROFILE The preferred candidate for this position should be an organized, thorough, and disciplined individual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
Valid driver’s license
EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
Five years related experience and/or training or acceptable equivalent experience
Electrical or welding experience preferred
Willingness to continue education in electrical or welding field
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity with ability to work at heights above thirty feet
Exceptional judgment to safely and efficiently operate and maintain equipment
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to perform mathematical computations in all units of measure
Ability to speak, read and write in English to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies
Promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal laws
Maintain good employee relations and encourages and fosters a helpful environment where teamwork prevails
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined, climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands. Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp/handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
Exposure to adverse weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and occasional fumes or airborne particles; moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts are present
Ability to operate motor vehicles, heavy machinery, mechanical equipment, and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
