Are you interested in becoming TxDOT Maritime Division’s Freight Coordinator? We’re looking for an ambitious team player to represent the maritime industry at the state and national level. Would you like to be involved in and manage studies related to freight movement on Texas waterways? How about manage the development of the biennial Texas Port Mission Plan? Are you interested in performing data analyses to identify trends and develop projections for commodity movement? This position offers the opportunity to do just that while you liaise with port and maritime industry executives to promote waterborne freight movement in the state.

Duties:
Administers state and federal maritime grant programs and projects. Conducts project management review, oversight and compliance monitoring of complex applications, grant agreements, procurements, reimbursements, audits and administrative requirements to determine compliance with federal and state requirements, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Work requires contact with departmental managers, high-level executives, governmental officials and/or private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives under direction from their supervisor.
Collaborates with program staff to provide technical assistance on program requirements to government agencies, transit providers, community organizations and the general public.
Assists with developing contract requirements or specifications in support of maritime programs or projects.
Assists with evaluating consultant performance for contractual compliance as well as federal and state requirements.
Assists with planning, developing and recommending program guidelines, policies, procedures enhancements and methodologies.
Assists with coordinating planning projects involving districts, divisions, various transportation and maritime interests, research endeavors with universities and other local, state or federal agencies.
Assists with data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, and/or plan development and assists in research and preparation of maritime reports.
Reviews and evaluates maritime plans and related documents to ensure compliance with applicable state or federal requirements and conformance to acceptable professional standards.
Stays abreast of transportation industry changes and requirements, policies, procedures and legislation.
Writes internal/external correspondence/reports/lists/forms/updates/memos concerning programs and projects.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration or related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Program Coordinator I
2 years of experience in project management, program coordination, planning, research analysis, grant administration and/or contract management. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Program Coordinator II
3 years of experience in project management, program coordination, planning, research analysis, grant administration and/or contract management. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
