Summary: Reporting to the CEO/Executive Director, the Director of Operations oversees the operational functions of vessel and cargo operations, heavy lift handling and transits, traffic control, berth allocations, Harbor Pilot relations and Harbor User relations. The Director of Operations formulates long-range operational goals for the organization, develops policy and position papers, oversees, and manages assigned department and functional areas on behalf of the CEO, and works in support of realizing the Port’s goals and objectives.
Location: Freeport, TX
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business, engineering, or closely related field is required.
Experience Requirements: Ten years of progressively responsible management experience in port operations or closely related experience. The successful candidate will be a high-level maritime operations professional with background in vessel and cargo operations, heavy lift handling, truck traffic control, vessel berth allocations and application of Port Tariff. He/she will have prepared and managed budgets and will have demonstrated exceptional customer service. They will have successfully managed large teams with diverse functions and will have a strong safety, technology, and disaster recovery background. The Director of Operations will be an excellent presenter and representative of the port internally and externally.
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range $151-223K (midpoint target: $187K).
