Summary:  The Galveston Wharves at the Port of Galveston is seeking an experienced, executive level Director of Communications to develop and execute a communications strategy to strengthen relationships with stakeholders, build the port’s brand regionally and nationally, and support the port’s business goals and objectives.  This position reports to the CEO of the Port of Galveston and will be a key member of the Port’s Executive Management Team. 

Required Qualifications & Experience:  At least ten (10) years of professional communications experience with five (5) years in an executive level corporate communications role.  Exceptional writing, presentation and organizational skills are critical for this position as is the ability to manage multiple projects and demands simultaneously.  The Director will be a proactive communications expert with experience developing, executing, and managing all aspects of a comprehensive branding, marketing, and communications plan.  Experience managing media relations and crisis communications is a must. 

Education Required:  Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in journalism, mass communications, public relations, or similar discipline.  Master’s degree preferred.
