Our Equipment Engineering team consists of approximately 40 employees in technical and engineering disciplines, who deploy and maintain heavy duty equipment to support the terminal and warehousing operations’ achievement of relevant business objectives.
We now seek a Director, Engineering Services with port terminal experience, who will deliver and exceed high standards of customer service, manage and motivate this technical team. They will also ensure adherence to company standards, drive improvements in all aspects of the engineering facility, ensure all engineering KPIs/financial budgets are delivered, programme and oversee preventative maintenance, compliance with Health, Safety, environment and quality engineering system standards.
Control and coordinate all engineering activities within the terminal, achieving all equipment engineering related KPIs
Ensure that the engineering department provides a fully functional, effective and flexible workforce, maintaining high standards of workmanship to the terminal operations.
Ensure that engineering personnel conduct all work in accordance with site and company safety procedures and regulations.
Ensure that all terminal and warehouse equipment is maintained to the highest possible standards in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and that equipment availability is maintained at an optimum level.
Implement and continually develop all necessary maintenance programmes, systems and procedures to enable the department to function effectively, including predictive and preventative maintenance.
Experience and Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Minimum fifteen (15) years industrial experience with heavy-duty equipment in a port/terminal environment
Ten (10) years management experience with proven ability to lead teams with strong communication and leadership skills
Knowledge/experience of Gottwald and Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes, Taylor and Terex Reach Stackers, Trucks, Bomb Carts, Tractors
Expert knowledge of heavy duty equipment/machinery - hydraulics, pneumatics, industrial mechanics and diesel engines
Able to read drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and to use Engineering drawing software
Good critical thinking and analytical skills
