About The Association of Pacific Ports
The Association of Pacific Ports (APP) is a trade and information association founded in 1913 as the Pacific Coast Association of Port Authorities for the purposes of promoting increased efficiency and effectiveness of the ports of the Pacific.
Programs of the APP are aimed at enhancing the technical and governance expertise of commissioner and other port officials through meetings, educational seminars and the exchange of appropriate communications. These programs are also pertinent to the needs of ports’ management and technical staff.
All ports located in areas tributary to the Pacific Ocean are eligible to join APP. Current members include ports in American Samoa, British Columbia, California, Hawaii, Micronesia (Marshall Islands, Guam, Saipan and Pohnpei), Oregon, Taiwan, Tonga and Washington State.
The association provides an Annual Conference each August and a Winter Conference each January. Other meetings and seminars are hosted on specific topics. The Pacific Current newsletter is published monthly for APP members.
APP is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization in its day-to-day activities and to work in conjunction with the Board and association members. The Executive Director is accountable to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Board to lead the APP in its various activities and to carry out the Mission of the APP. The Executive Director is responsible for APP management as it relates to the oversight of the constitution and by-laws of the APP and related policies as set by the Board.
Required Qualifications & Experience: At least 5 years’ experience in association management (in a lead role), preferably with an emphasis on the transportation/goods movement industry and a strong familiarity with Ports. Must have proven success growing association membership, planning multiple annual events, working under the direction of a volunteer board, adhering to administrative protocols (non-profit reporting, meeting minutes, record-keeping), increasing membership, developing/enhancing sponsorships providing quarterly financial reporting and overseeing accounting functions. Must also have experience managing a website, producing e-newsletters and ideally, experience promoting events and information though social media platforms.

Additional Salary Information: The APP Executive Director will work under a contract arrangement. It is expected that the APP Executive Director will currently have or have access to staff/resources to assist with administrative duties and events.
