Metro Ports is an experienced terminal operator and stevedoring company with multiple locations nationwide. As a diverse company, we move a wide range of bulk and breakbulk cargos including petroleum coke, coal, cement, aggregates, potash, fertilizer products, borax, bauxite, RORO, military, steel, wind energy components, yachts and project cargo.

Reporting to the President of Operations, the Director of EHS is responsible for providing direction and guidance for the reduction of environmental, occupational health and safety (EHS) related losses within the company. Key accountabilities include EHS leadership, operations/compliance management and leadership training/coaching. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, strategic thinker who has developed, maintained and continually improved safety programs and protocols. Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills are a must.
Ten years’ progressively responsible EHS management experience, preferably in a multi-site organization. Previous training and supervisory experience is required. Maritime industry (cruise and cargo) experience is strongly preferred as is experience with labor relations and longshore unions. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of state and federal OSHA, US Coast Guard, PCMSC and other safety regulatory requirements.
Position includes some travel, mostly regional.
